Plastic belongs in a yellow container. Plastic occupies the most space in the average Czech waste bin. Therefore, it is not only important to sort it, but also to press or crumple them before throwing them away. Beverage cartons or metals are also sorted along with plastic waste in some cities and municipalities. It depends on local conditions and technical equipment on sorting lines where the waste is collected. For this reason, it is important to study labels on individual containers. In addition to the symbols listed below, you can also dispose of packaging waste marked with the number 7 in these containers.

Waste that belongs to a plastic waste container includes films, bags, plastic bags, crushed PET bottles, packaging from laundry, cleaning and cosmetics products, cups from yoghurts, dairy products, packaging films from consumer goods, CD packaging and other plastic products.

Throw packaging foam polystyrene in there in smaller pieces; it is better to take it to collection yards.

On the other hand, do not throw greasy packaging with food or cleaning products residues, packaging from corrosives, paints and other hazardous substances, floor coverings or PVC tubes into this container.

Vymývání kelímků není pro zpracování nutné, stačí je pořádně vyškrabat. Pokud chceme kelímky umýt z důvodu delšího skladování v domácnosti, neměli bychom využívat čistou vodu, ale třeba vodu po mytí nádobí.

It is not necessary to rinse the cups for processing, just scrape them out thoroughly. If you want to wash the cups for longer storage at home, you should not use clean water, but water after washing the dishes.

Před vyhozením bychom měli PET lahve zmáčknout nebo sešlápnout, aby nezabíraly příliš místa v koši a následně v kontejneru.

Sběr PET lahví pomocí zálohových automatů je v některých zemích rozšířený. Jeho zavedení však přináší nemalé finanční náklady.

Plasty by v žádném případě neměly skončit v přírodě. V oceánech se díky proudům vytváří velké "ostrovy" tvořené plastovým odpadem.

Sešlápnutí je nejsnazší způsob, jak zmenšit objem PET lahve před jejím vytříděním.

Squeezing is the easiest way to reduce the volume of a PET bottle before sorting it.

Pokud se plastová lahev dostane do řeky, bude v ní plout, dokud ji někdo neodstraní.

Víčka jsou jednodruhovým materiálem a proto jsou v některých školách sbírána. Patří do plastového odpadu a nejlepší způsob jejich vytřídění je společně se sešlápnutou lahví je vhodit do kontejneru na plasty.

Lids are a single-type material and are therefore collected in some schools. They belong to plastic waste and the best way to sort them is to throw them into a plastic container together with a pressed bottle.

Zubní kartáčky se obvykle v ČR netřídí a můžete je tedy hodit do směsného odpadu. Mohou však probíhat individuální programy jejich sběru.

Toothbrushes are usually not sorted in the Czech Republic and can therefore be thrown into mixed waste. However, individual collection programmes may take place.

V případě zálohování musí být vytříděné PET lahve v obchodech skladovány než dojde k jejich převozu na další zpracování.

In the case of returnables, sorted PET bottles must be stored in shops before they are transported for further processing.
