Plastics sorted by type and compressed in bales of up to two hundred kilograms are taken from the sorting lines to the processors. Here, they are crushed, cleaned and transformed into raw materials suitable for producing final products. The most common plastic recycling product is the so-called regranulate. It is an input raw material for producing new plastics in the form of small chips. You can find regranulated waste plastics in a number of new plastic products (PET bottles have minimum recycled content set), in waste bins, bags, flowerpots, but also in office supplies and parts for the automotive industry.

Some single-type sorted plastics can also be used to produce textile or technical fibres and then, for example, carpets, winter jacket fillings, blankets and sleeping bags, car upholstery, sweatshirts, T-shirts and jerseys, as well as layers in baby nappies. PET has the widest use in this regard.

Another type of plastic processing is melting and intrusion into moulds. In this way, transport pallets, channel inlets, fence bars, noise barriers and other weather-resistant products made of ‘artificial wood’ are created.

Chemical recycling is a new developing method regarding plastic processing. It is a process where plastics are depolymerised and original chemicals are created for re-production. Currently, the first operating units are being built and the possibilities and pitfalls of this alternative form of recycling are being verified.
